Peace Mission Center
Welcome to Peace Mission Center, a ministry of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church! We look forward to housing you and your group while you volunteer in the Greater New Orleans area. If after looking at our site you should have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Our contact information is listed at the bottom of the page.
Who We Are
"Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members
of my family, you did it to me. (Matthew 25:40)" The Mission of Peace Mission Center is to partner
with others in being God's hands, feet and voice to hurting people who are still recovering
from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and now Hurricane Isaac. Our primary venues of ministry include: hospitality
ministry for compassionate volunteers coming to bring time, talents and treasures to hurting people
in the greater New Orleans area, and emotional support for hurting people in the greater Slidell area.

In the new fellowship building, we are able to house an additional 48 volunteers on
raised (double high, twin sized) airbeds. Linens, towels and pillows are provided as
they are in the church building. This facility has 2 restrooms with 6 shower stalls (three
for men, three for women).
Private RV's: We have several sites available if you would like to bring your own private RV. Electrical (30 & 50 Amp)and water hook ups are provided and we can flush your holding tank, however we are not able to provide propane. Please let the housing coordinator know ahead of time if these are your plans so that we can reserve a space for you.
Other Amenities: A shower trailer with shower stalls (2 female and 2 male) is also on site for your use, as well as a full kitchen with ice maker and laundry facilities. We also have a community room in the main building with a sectional sofa, six computer terminals with internet access, wireless internet (WiFi) and a big screen TV with satellite TV service. Breakfast: We are happy to provide a Continental Breakfast Monday-Friday which can be located in the Mission Center dining area. We offer a selection of fruits, cereals, juice, coffee, bread, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, and condiments.
Lunch: We provide a take-out style lunch for our volunteers to bring with them to their worksite on Monday-Friday. We will place lunch items out so that you and your group can make sandwiches to take with you. Lunch items include bread, cold cuts, chips, snack/dessert, and a piece of fruit. We do have a few ice chests available on a first come first serve basis that you may borrow. You may also utilize your own ice chests. Please feel free to use the ice maker to fill your ice chests.
Dinner: We provide dinner to our volunteers every evening Monday-Friday (and occasionally on Mondays and/or Saturdays depending on the amount of volunteers we have) starting at 6p.m. in the Mission Center dining area. Please let us know 24 hours in advance if your group will not be eating with us on a particular night so that we can make adjustments to our menu. If you would like any suggestions to any of the many restaurants in the Greater New Orleans area on the nights that we are not cooking or if you just want to dine out, please let us know.

Mission Center Maintenance
In order to offer you the cleanest and most comfortable accommodations possible, we ask that you please help us keep our facility tidy by keeping the public areas free of personal items. We ask that 3 individuals volunteer each night to help our cooks with the dishes and depending on the number of people at the site that week we may ask for volunteers to help serve dinner. We may also have some ongoing projects at our facility. If you are interested, please ask one of the staff members what we may need done around the facility.
Requested Donations for Housing
We request a flat-rate donation of $25/day per person which begins the day you arrive and ends on the day that you leave.
If you would like to bring your own private RV or travel trailer, then we request a donation of $125/week for the use of the site.
