Just for Life! Summer Camp 2008

June 9th - 13th 9:00am - 4:00pm
Cost: FREE

Theme Verse: Let justice roll down like water, and righteousness like an everflowing stream.(Amos 5:24)

Through parables, this camp will look at the justice of God. When many people think of the parables, they probably think of them in terms of the old definition, “An earthly story with a heavenly message.” Though partly accurate as a way of describing Jesus’ earthly accounts of growing seeds, mustard plants, sheep, and vineyards, such a perspective fails to recognize the unheavenly controversy that his parables have often generated.

Within the last few decades, Jesus’ parables have been studied as stories with the potential of multiple meanings whose goal is to engage the reader/hearer in considering the world in a different way, in God’s way. Parables function as metaphors challenging or inviting the audience into a new or deeper experience of God’s dominion, a dominion identified with those who are the last, the lost, the least, the little, and the lifeless.

9:00am - 12:00pm
Cost:$10 per child - not to exceed $25 per family

As SonForce special agents, our students will follow in the words of Joshua 1:9: Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

The SonForce Kids headquarters is located on a satellite orbiting high above the earth. In this hi-tech command center,SonForce agents gather to prepare for their five Daily Missions: Trust! Unite! Train! Follow! Lead!

Throughout VBS, they will have the opportunity to grow in their understanding of what it means to serve God with courage as they advance from Level 1 to Level 5 agents.

From the courage shown by baby Moses’ family, Level 1 agents will learn to TRUST in God’s Plans. Following Esther’s example, Level 2 agents will be encouraged to UNITE with God’s People. To help them make wise choices like Daniel did, Level 3 agents will learn to TRAIN for God’s Service. Just as Jeremiah obeyed God even when it was difficult, Level 4 agents will learn to FOLLOW in God’s Path. Finally, like Joshua and Caleb, Level 5 agents will get ready to LEAD Others to God’s Promises.

So get ready for an out-of-this-world adventure.

Vacation Bible School 2006

Mark your calendars for June 19th - 23rd for Davey and Goliath's Circus Spectacular.

Kids experience Bible stories through an interactive combination of music, art, snacks, games, worship, puppetry, and drama. And this year Davey and Goliath invite their friends Cisco, Sally, and Jonathan to join them under God's Big Tent!

Camp will be from 9 - 12 each morning. Many thanks go out to the folks from Christ Lutheran Church in Roanoke, Virgina for volunteering to host our Vacation Bible School this year. Without their efforts, we would be unable to hold VBS this year. THANK YOU!
